Angel Wings
Crashed
head first.
Nearly killed myself
But I've been
doing that
all my life.
This time, I might
have succeeded
were it not for you.
It's not everybody
who meets an angel
at the crash site.
You turned my
dark night inside out
revealing,
my imprisoned self.
You took my hand;
turned the key.
I watched the door
swing open.
And as we walked
the rock-strewn
shore, a flap
of angel wings
reminded me
that rock bottoms
can contain
a precipice
from which
to Soar.

Ambiguous Eyes
There it sat
upon a wall of stone
Its stare
reminding me
of Mother Superior's
ambiguous eyes
and how she cried
when applying
the belt
to my bruised
back side.
When I awoke,
I donned my habit; stared
into the bathroom
mirror;
then quickly walked
down the cracked
sidewalk,
my rosary beads
silently tucked in memories
unused drawer.
My ambiguous eyes
still searching
for the end
to my daily
despair.
