Ambiguous Eyes
There it sat
upon a wall of stone
Its stare
reminding me
of Mother Superior's
ambiguous eyes
and how she cried
when applying
the belt
to my bruised
back side.
When I awoke,
I donned my habit; stared
into the bathroom
mirror;
then quickly walked
down the cracked
sidewalk,
my rosary beads
silently tucked in memories
unused drawer.
My ambiguous eyes
still searching
for the end
to my daily
despair.
