Angel Wings

Crashed
head first.
Nearly killed myself

But I've been
doing that
all my life.

This time, I might
have succeeded
were it not for you.

It's not everybody
who meets an angel
at the crash site.

You turned my
dark night inside out
revealing,

my imprisoned self.
You took my hand;
turned the key.

I watched the door
swing open.
And as we walked

the rock-strewn
shore, a flap
of angel wings

reminded me
that rock bottoms
can contain

a precipice
from which
to Soar.
